Context
The current editor-in-chief of WikiLeaks, Kristinn Hrafnsson, stresses that the situation in HMP Belmarsh is particularly alarming for Assange, as his pre-existing health status leaves him particularly vulnerable to the coronavirus outbreak. "Assange is in very bad shape. He is a very vulnerable individual, especially to a virus like covid-19. He has an underlying lung condition and would be considered at great risk even if he were to live normally in society." Hrafnsson reiterated, "he is in a situation where his life is in danger every day and every hour." He also made it clear that British authorities are neglecting their duties by leaving Assange, as well as other prisoners, in jail under the current circumstances.
